SPCA to offer Canine Good Citizen Test
Article published on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008
PINELLAS COUNTY – Good human citizens can start the New Year with “canine good citizens” thanks to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Tampa Bay’s ongoing Canine Good Citizen Test.
This certification program was designed by the American Kennel Club to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The SPCA hopes to certify Tampa Bay area pit bulls and pit bull mixes in order to bring out the best of one of the most misrepresented breeds.
The SPCA works in conjunction with the Animal Farm Foundation, a New York-based organization that aims to change the perception of pit bulls across the United States.
For every certified pit bull or pit bull mix, the Animal Farm Foundation will give $150 donation to the SPCA’s homeless pets. All dogs who pass the 10-step test receive a certificate from the AKC.
