Article published on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008
PINELLAS COUNTY – National Spay/Neuter month for pets began Feb. 1. The SPCA Tampa Bay is the referral source for free or discounted spay/neuter services all over the Tampa Bay area. Interested pet owners can access information at www.SPCATampaBay.org to research the services.
The SPCA offers discounted spay/neuter surgeries to the pets of people with limited income. The Largo animal shelter works with local veterinarians to offer surgeries at little or no cost. Service includes pet vaccinations, including rabies.
In addition, the SPCA’s Fix a Pit Program offers free spay/neuter surgeries to pit bull terriers and pit bull mixes with no owner-income requirements.
To qualify, applicants must apply in person without their pet and with recent 1040 form Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the SPCA, 9099 130th Ave. N. in Largo.
