TAMPA – The Bay Area Renaissance Festival at MOSI presents Pet Fest March 9 and 10. Bring family, friends and furry companions to meet featured pet-related exhibitors.

Spoil your pet and shop for pet apparel, personalized tags and natural pet food from vendors such as A1 Pet Treats. Patrons can also learn about dogs, parrots, cats and more from rescue organizations, such as Dalmatian Rescue of Tampa Bay and Chihuahua Rescue.

The Festival is excited to announce Wiener Dog Races will be added to Pet Fest this year. Come and watch the dachshunds put their tiny legs to work as they race against each other. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest pups. Bring your dachshund to Piper’s Valley to give your dog a chance at taking home the gold.

Patrons can stop by to watch demonstrations from the Tampa Bay Working Dog Club in Piper’s Valley all weekend. The nonprofit club will showcase their German shepherds for their impressive obedience skills and Schutzhung training that tests the discipline and temperament of the dogs in a competitive sport.

Those looking for a laugh can catch a show from Johnny Peers and Muttville Comix, a special entertainment group for Pet Fest weekend. Enjoy a show filled with slapstick comedy as Johnny directs multiple dogs through tricks and obstacles.

All pets are welcome to compete in the Pet Costume Contest to win fabulous pet related prizes. Categories for the competition will be Cutest, Best Costume, and Best Trick.

While this weekend is focused on pets, patrons may bring their dog to the festival any day of the season. Each animal must have their current rabies shots along with a registration form. For more information on how to bring your dog to the festival, please visit www.bayarearenaissancefest.com.

The Bay Area Renaissance Festival continues through April 7. The Festival is open weekends, with a special day for schools and seniors on Festival Friday, March 22. The Festival is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. rain or shine. Admission at the gate: Adults $18.95; Children 5-12 $10.95; age 4 and under are admitted free.

Free parking is provided by James Rivard Buick GMC. Discount tickets are available at participating Circle K and Walgreens stores, at MOSI, or online at www.BayAreaRenaissanceFest.com.
