Sally, a blond lab, and Charlie, a black lab, have the luck o’ the Irish. They are Tampa Bay Newspapers March Pet of the Month winners.
Sally, 11, and Charlie, 12, live with their human, Deborah Fleming, in Seminole. Sally is shy but loving, and once she warms up, she won’t leave you alone. Charlie is incredibly friendly and loves everyone.
Fleming adopted both of them from Labrador Rescue of Florida and said it feels like these great dogs have always been hers.
Sally especially loves walks, rides in the car, helping Fleming in the garden by digging holes, and sitting at her feet. Charlie loves fetch, walks, constant pets and following Fleming everywhere.
Sally also serves as a unique alarm clock. If she doesn’t sleep with Fleming, Sally jumps in the bed in the morning and wakes her up with kisses.
Charlie is the ultimate people-dog, and Fleming has taken him to nursing homes where he brightens up the lives of the residents.
Both Sally and Charlie are thrilled to have such a wonderful second-chance on life.
Before they came to Labrador Rescue of Florida, they came from abusive homes and both have health issues. Fleming strongly urges people to adopt dogs from rescue organizations.
As Pets of the Month, Sally and Charlie win a $25 gift certificate to Largo Feed and Garden Supply in either Largo or Pinellas Park.
