LARGO – The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Pinellas County needs volunteers to foster puppies and kittens.
Pet foster parents care for the young ones in their own homes until they reach acceptable weight and age requirements for adoption. Some foster pets have special care needs due to illness or injury. A foster pet’s stay usually lasts several weeks. Volunteer responsibilities include feeding, cleaning, socializing and medicating. Apply now for June training.
All applicants must complete a 2-hour volunteer orientation and a 1-hour foster parent training. Applicants’ resident animals must be up to date on vaccinations; a home visit will be conducted prior to placement of animals. The SPCA provides food and supplies. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have adequate time and space to foster.
