ST. PETERSBURG - To promote responsible pet ownership and help reduce pet overpopulation in Pinellas County, Animal Services' mobile veterinary vehicle will visit the Enoch Davis Center at 1111 18th Ave. S., throughout June. The Animobile will be in the parking lot on June 9, 10, 14, 16, 17, 21, 23, and 24.
The Animobile offers free spaying or neutering of pets belonging to residents receiving public assistance. Surgical sterilizations are performed aboard the Animobile each morning.
From 1:30 to 3 p.m. on each of those days, the Animobile staff will offer rabies vaccinations for $1 with the purchase of a county pet license.
The Animobile also provides public education about pet care and adoptions. In addition to reducing pet overpopulation, research indicates pets that are spayed or neutered tend to live longer, happier lives and are less susceptible to certain diseases.
To schedule a surgical appointment for a pet, call 582-2600. Appointments are not required for rabies vaccination or licensing.
