PALM HARBOR – One of the newest animal welfare organizations in the county has agreed to help find homes for nearly two dozen puppies from an Alabama rescue organization.
Overwhelmed, Angel Dog Rescue in Eufaula, Ala. reached out to Rick Chaboudy of the Suncoast Animal League in Palm Harbor.
“They have puppies like we have kittens – way too many,” said Chaboudy. “They also ran out of money up there.”
Many of the puppies were abandoned, or their mothers were, in the mostly rural areas of Eufaula and also Georgetown, Ga. A volunteer with Angel Dog Rescue is originally from this area and knowing of Chaboudy’s work as the former longtime director of the Humane Society of Pinellas, suggested they give Chaboudy a call.
On June 11, the mixed-breed puppies were transported to Suncoast Animal League. They are undergoing medical evaluation and will be spayed or neutered before being put up for adoption.
“All indications are they are in pretty good shape,” Chaboudy said.
Call Suncoast Animal League at 939-1300.
