SEMINOLE – In recognition of national Homeless Animals Day, Seminole Mall will be teeming with pets just waiting for loving homes, at the Super Adopt-A-Thon on Saturday, Aug. 20, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Many animal rescue agencies, shelters and organizations will unite to adopt out their pets, hosted by the SPCA Tampa Bay. Supporting animal groups will include Pinellas County Animal Services, Pinellas Animal Foundation, Humane Society of Pinellas, Save Our Strays and various other animal rescue groups.
“The SPCA is truly grateful to Seminole Mall for giving us this opportunity to inform the public about the necessity of animal adoption in our area,” Beth Lockwood, executive director of the SPCA Tampa Bay, said in an announcement.
“Some people feel more comfortable adopting homeless animals in a shopping center environment rather than a shelter; and Seminole’s centralized location will encourage the public to take a look at the many wonderful animals found at various shelters in Pinellas,” said Lockwood. “Last year’s adopt-a-thon at Seminole was a great success. We are confident Aug. 20 will be even better.”
The day’s adoption goal is to see 105 pets find new homes. This number is in recognition of the ongoing support that Magic WWRM-FM 94.9 and WDUV-FM 105.5 have shown the SPCA’s homeless pets.
