SPCA Tampa Bay taking registrations for Paws on Parade
Article published on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006 |
PINELLAS COUNTY – The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Tampa Bay is calling all pet lovers to join the 16th Annual Paws on Parade Pet Walk in beautiful North Shore Park, Saturday, Oct. 28, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Paws on Parade is the top fundraiser for the SPCA, a nonprofit animal shelter that takes in more than 15,000 animals a year. The Largo shelter receives no government funding and depends on events such as Pet Walk to carry out its mission.
Registered walkers will raise money by collecting donations for participating in the 1-mile walk. Tiger Teams, groups of people and their pets, walk together to represent companies, organizations, neighborhoods and families. The donations collected by walkers will provide food, shelter and medical care for homeless and abused animals. Registered walkers are eligible for prizes based on the amount of money raised.
Part of the fun this year will be the Adoptable Pet Parade sponsored by the St. Petersburg Times. A complimentary IHOP breakfast will fill up the walkers, as they enjoy fun and pet-friendly shopping opportunities for all ages. The popular Pet Howl-o-ween costume contest will return to center stage.
Adorable, adoptable SPCA pets will be in attendance at the “Adopt love for life” tent.
To register, call the SPCA at 586-3591, ext. 163 or log on to www.petwalk.org.
