• St. Giles Episcopal Church will host a Blessing of Animals on Saturday, Oct. 7, 9:30 a.m. The blessing is in commemoration of St. Francis. All owners with animals are welcomed and a free medal will be given for the animal's collar. The church is at 8271 52nd St., Pinellas Park. Call 544-6856

• Pasadena Community Church will have a Blessing of the Animals and Pet-Fest on Saturday, Oct. 7, 9 a.m. to noon, on the front lawn.

Pastors will bless the animals in front of the sanctuary and a blessing certificate will be provided to each pet. The circle will be filled with booths representing pet boutiques, groomers, rescue and adoption groups, trainers, kennels, a pet photographer and others. For those with questions regarding pet health, there will be an “Ask the Vet” booth. The 6th Security Forces Squadron Military Working Dog Section of MacDill Air Force Base will provide a canine demonstration.

Door prizes donated by the exhibitors and sponsors will be awarded throughout the event. The church is at 227 70th St. S., St. Petersburg. Call 381-2499, ext. 204.

• The 11th Annual Blessing of Animals at Calvary Episcopal Church, co-sponsored by Pinellas Suncoast Fire and Rescue, will be on Saturday, Oct. 7, 10 a.m.

This is one of the oldest celebrations for pets and their families in the county and attracts animals and people of all ages, sizes and breeds. It is also a very special comfort for those whose pets have died in that it takes place on the grounds of Calvary’s St. Francis Pet Cemetery.

Each year, the ecumenical service reminds us that our pets have much to teach us when it comes to loyalty and love, and that in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, we too can stand together as friends and work together to become “instruments of peace.” The church is at 1615 First St., Indian Rocks Beach. Call 510-6153.

• A Blessing of the Pets and Animal Appreciation Day will be Saturday, Oct. 7, 11 a.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 407 S. Saturn Ave., Clearwater. Animal-related vendors will be on site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch, prizes and pet photos are available. Call 446-7718.
