Don’t let pets roam free
Article published on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008
Editor:
I can feel for Ms. Cavener regarding the loss of her cat in what must of been a brutal attack by an unknown animal. I’m certain she loved her companion animal but Ms. Cavener must take personal responsibility for her loss.

Not only is it against the law to allow your animals to roam free but when you allow them to roam free your not being a responsible pet owner. How many times a day do you see cats lying dead along the side of the road or narrowly missing being run over by a vehicle? The bottom line is responsible pet owners do not allow their animals to roam free.

I hope Ms. Cavener can see her mistake and I hope at some point she will visit an animal shelter and adopt another cat who can’t find a good home.

I also hope Ms. Cavener has learned by her mistake to take ownership of her animals and not to allow them to roam free.
