Against incorporating Palm Harbor

Editor:
Attention residents of unincorporated Palm Harbor. Warning. Don’t drink the incorporation Kool-Aid that is being promoted by a few misguided activists.

It looks like some in the unincorporated community of Palm Harbor would like to incorporate. That according to a local bill that is now working its way through the Florida legislature. The start up costs and maintenance for a new city would be tens of millions of dollars. I would also point out the county is supplying all of those services now at no cost or at a very low cost.

If the referendum to incorporate the city of Palm Harbor passes, the residents of this new city, like all other citizens of cities in Pinellas County will be turned into city tax slaves. And their tax money, no doubt, will be used for the ante-bellum, grandiose, plantation like development schemes that will be dreamed up by their “masters” at the new Palm Harbor city hall.
