Editor: As we listen to the men drilling their boreholes for condensity in the car park and the men taking their measurements/levels on the private beach, we are painfully reminded that the days of the Clearwater Beach Hotel are numbered.
Letís look at the facts which make this a great hotel and worth saving:
1. Superb garden with many mature trees and shrubs. 2. Good sized heated pool. 3. Great views from the bedrooms. 4. Loyal staff, always friendly and helpful. 5. Private beach.
But above all, and even more important, is the ambiance, the tranquility, restfulness, an oasis of calm in a busy world and old-style charm. All these things money alone cannot buy.
All right, the hotel needs some restoration, but surely this beautiful hotel can be saved, if investors can be found to restore it to its former glory.
In the U.K. this closure would not be allowed. Just consider the protest if The Ritz or The Savoy was to suffer the same fate. We have traveled extensively throughout the world, and this is one of the best locations for a hotel we have seen. We will not find another.
Letís keep the beach hotel for future generations to enjoy.
