Editor: Recently while walking the Pinellas Trail, which I haven’t done in some time, I saw with surprise several round markers embedded in the walkway. These markers contain information to use in case of emergency.
Instructions include calling 911, giving the operator the number of your location on the trail plus a phone number to call for maintenance.
What a great idea.
Most people carry their cell phones with them wherever they go. If by chance they don’t have a cell phone, surely some other person on the trail will make the call for them. Hopefully, none of us will have to use these markers, but for those who must, how helpful in times of stress.
To list the location by number on the marker really narrows it down when you consider the length of the Pinellas Trail. How smart!
As I said before, I think this is a wonderful idea and whoever put this thought into motion deserves a big thank you from all of us.
