Re: Cartoon by Dan Smith, March 17-23(View cartoon) Editor: Families who send their children to private and religious schools have for many decades paid taxes as everyone else – the same tax that is used for public schools. They have, in addition, paid the tuition to send their children to the school of choice. No one has considered this unfair. The bottom line is it depends on whose pockets the tax dollars are stolen from.
Secondly, most Christian schools educate the child for half the cost that public schools require from taxpayers. Thirdly, the vast majority of children coming from these schools perform higher on the national tests than public school children.
Florida has a preponderance of the country’s senior citizens. We all paid taxes for our children when in school. Why is it fair to continue to tax those who do not have children going to school? Depends on whose pocket the tax dollars are coming out of.
Fairness is in the mind of the beholder. I will never understand the mind of the liberal (a poor term for the socialistic minded atheistic left). Honesty, logic, fairness, morality, ethics, a knowledge of the true history of this country and many other areas of knowledge are lacking in most of them. Reminds me of the song “Don’t know much about history,” etc.
