Editor: I am not surprised that Rays management would contribute 25K to Greenlight Pinellas mass transit initiative because if the Pinellas Transportation Sales Tax Referendum is approved on Nov 4, 2014, it would be at the expense of all Pinellas County taxpayers and they would be on the hook for this 1 percent sales tax, a 14 percent tax increase.
I am surprised that Pinellas Realtor Organization and the National Association of Realtors would endorse and contribute $245K to Greenlight Pinellas. Purpose of Greenlight Pinellas/Agenda 21 is to promote light rail transportation and warehouse residents in high-rise apartments near rail station, much like New York City and other large metropolitan cities, and this in no way would be in the best interest of Pinellas residential Realtors.
These Realtor organizations should be working to support the building and selling of homes and not apartments. Most large apartment complexes have their own Realtor acting as a leasing agent.
Greenlight Pinellas is all about downtown St. Petersburg and keeping the Rays downtown, and at the expense of all Pinellas County residents. Hopefully, north Pinellas County residents will remember this when they vote on Nov. 4 and vote accordingly.
