Editor: I am going door to door, with my dog, Buddy, getting signatures from residents who are opposed to the utility tax. The two replies I get when I ask if they have heard about the utility tax are: “I heard something” or “No, I am not aware of any utility tax.”
All of the residents I have talked to have been nice. This is a safe and beautiful city that overspent our taxpayer money on fighting the firefighter pension fund.
At the last workshop, Debra Sullivan made the statement there aren’t “that many Belleair Bluffs residents on fixed incomes.” I don’t know where she got her information, but there are quite a few residents on fixed or low incomes and, we are in one of the worse recessions ever. I was just laid off from my job of eight years so people are still suffering job losses, income losses, higher food prices, gas at an all-time high for the longest period of time and more.
I will be in attendance at the July 14 workshop meeting at 6 p.m. as I am not fighting just for myself, but for the residents of Belleair Bluffs.
