Editor I have spent a better part of my life speaking well of God. I am a follower of Christ, a broken man, who is being put back together again and again by the loving work of God’s holy spirit.
I am quite sure that I will never be made perfect in this life, but look forward to the day when I may kneel down before a holy and loving God in eternity who has found a way to save me from myself and all the evil that contaminates the world in which we live. So what I am about to say comes from a grateful heart with no religion to defend, ax to grind, or compelling need to be right. I only want to speak from my heart about someone I have come to love. Remaining quiet no longer is an option.
God deserves better than he is receiving from the voices that criticize and ostracize Him in our society. It seems in this day that the critics are on every front. The national discussion is truly void of respect for the God of the Old and New Testament.
Jesus has been minimized to no more than a character of a book that is considered unreliable, outdated, and merely an opinion of men rather than a miraculous revelation given to mankind by a God who is seeking to restore his relationship with them.
Few people have spent a lifetime studying, researching, and examining the Bible as I have. Public opinion has its foundation today on hearsay rather than fact. Many people search for truth on the Internet, in the newspaper, or the classroom rather than in the Bible. If the celebrity or news media personalities express their opinion, then it must be true.
Truth is relative in the national soul of our country and we have missed God.
The truth is Jesus said, “God did not send the son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him.”
It was the love of God for all of his creation that was at the core of everything that he did. It was God’s love that crushed the man-made rules of religion that separated ordinary people from God. It was the love of God that healed the sick and raised the dead. It was the love of God that cast out demons and delivered people from the power of evil. It was the love of God that found a way to heal the soul, through total and complete forgiveness of sin – because Christ laid down his life on a cross for our sins that we might be able to one day stand in the presence of a holy God in all eternity.
The truth is that “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, and whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
Jesus Christ deserves greater respect than the public opinions of today proclaim. I am saddened that as a nation, it has become politically correct and even in vogue to disrespect Jesus Christ. I really believe we know not what we are doing. My heart breaks for my grandchildren and the future generations if we do not find our way back to God.
