Editor: I applaud the Redington Beach mayor and commissioners for recognizing at their Aug. 21 town meeting that pedestrian crosswalks have not created the safe haven for pedestrians as intended.
I applaud them for acknowledging accidents have gone up, versus down. I applaud them for setting into action to remove isolated crosswalks.
It is my hope that adjoining beach communities will focus on how to decrease instead of increase accidents associated or caused by isolated, unwarranted crosswalks.
