Editor: Given the popularity of the current dolphin art exhibit on Pier 60, why don’t we have any dolphin statues or images on beach walk? According to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium there are over 700 dolphins living in and around this area, so why do we have so many statues of turtles on beach walk and no statues or images of dolphins?
I have counted several statues of turtles on beach walk but not a single statue or image of a dolphin. Unlike turtles who come to our beaches to lay their eggs only once or twice a year, dolphins live here year-round in our beaches; besides, they are more playful and cuter.
Haven’t we learned anything from “Winter” the movie that was filmed here on Clearwater Beach? We should have a statue of “Winter” on beach walk or choose the best statue on view now at Pier 60 for permanent display.
