Editor: Over the holiday weekend, a fireworks aerial bomb was placed in my mailbox at approximately 11 p.m. on Aug. 31. The rear of the mailbox was partially blown out and the front was blown open. The event rattled homes’ windows across the street and a report to the sheriff was made plus pictures taken. The replaced mailbox and wood below it cost just under $45.
The negatives this act created was greater than a disabled person or a minority person should worry about, in an area where they have lived for more than 25 years. Concealed guns on this street are being carried by many because of this act.
The tubular nature of a mailbox could have allowed the explosive to shoot its stuff like a gun into the home across the street. Thankfully, this did not happen.
The acts of Zimmerman were not good but dumb stupid stuff like this could get someone shot no matter the age of the person doing something or looking like they may be doing something. Residents are not trained like the law that is in your area. But having to carry a gun to put the garbage out at dusk or at night is happening on our street. So oh, say can you see the guns we carry in front of our homes or see the bomb in our mailbox?
