Editor: I donít get the political cartoon in the Sept. 19 issue of the Beach Bee.
It seems to imply that President Obama is in the pocket of the Russian president. Why would that be? President Obama has gotten Putinís ally Assad to admit for the first time that he has chemical weapons. And the president says the U.S. retains the option to strike Assad if the Syrian reneges on his promise to allow U.N. inspectors to locate and eventually destroy the chemical weapons.
Or is Obama in Putinís pocket because the New York Times published an op-ed article by Putin? I just donít get it.
It looks like the cartoonist doesnít follow the guidelines you give for letter writers and which should be valid for all editorial content Ė ďrefrain from making unsubstantiated allegations.Ē
Allegations along the lines of ďthe president is a mini-PutinĒ is what weíve come to expect from factions who donít mind sabotaging our American government and our economy if they can just prevent Obama from being successful.
Our community deserves better. Surely you can choose more accurate cartoons and maybe something from closer to our home than Arkansas.
