Editor: The Pinellas County School Board approved a policy in 2009 of religious freedom during religious holidays. However I have seen little change.
As an example, school music programs in December continue to omit any Christmas carols. This is discrimination and has led some to believe that there is a “war on Christmas.” Our Constitution calls for separation of church (denomination) and State, but not God and State.
Religion makes up an important part of our culture, and is a legitimate part of a complete education. Hopefully our children and grandchildren’s education will be more fair and balanced in the future. Please pass this important information to principals, teachers, and parents.
