Softball teammates move on to college

SEMINOLE – Osceola High School Lady Warrior’s Softball team celebrated senior night and honored their two seniors Amber Lanese and Amanda Shirley. The co-captains of the team have earned varsity letters in softball since freshman year.
Amber maintains a 4.6 GPA and is ranked third in the senior class. She will attend Florida State University and plans to major in criminology.
Amanda is ranked first in the senior class with a GPA of 4.74 and will attend the University of Florida, majoring in mathematics.

Phillips wins Hillpin Invitational

BELLEAIR – Conceived of by the Tampa Ladies, the third Hillpin Invitational croquet tournament took place on April 21 through 23 at Belleair Country Club.
Previous winners include Betty Crisler and Bobbie Faber, who was the defending champion. This year’s field saw 11 entrants.
Players played using handicaps and bisque on a block basis to produce three players from each block advancing to the playoffs.

| Tennis fans invited to a party
CLEARWATER - The United States Tennis Association Florida, the Suncoast Tennis Foundation, the local United States Professional Tennis Association and the city of Clearwater will have a party on Saturday, May 13, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Henry L. McMullen Tennis Complex.

Mainlands to host ALS golf tournament PINELLAS PARK – The Florida Chapter of the ALS Association will host a golf tournament on Saturday, May 13, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start at Mainlands Golf Course. The format will be a two-man scramble with three divisions including men’s, mixed and ladies. Entry fee is $50 a person. Food and beverages will be provided at the conclusion of play. Proceeds will go toward patient care and research. The golf course is at 9445 Mainlands Blvd. W. Call 776-1366 or 647-2496.

Fundraiser to benefit Azalea Little League, Miracle Field TREASURE ISLAND – The Kiwanis Club of Gulf Beaches will join with Azalea Little League to sponsor Casino Night on Friday, May 12, 6:30 to 11 p.m., at the Lion's Club, 9300 W. Gulf Blvd., Sunset Beach. Table sponsors, silent auction and raffle items are needed to support the event. Proceeds will benefit the Azalea Little League and the Miracle League of Gulf Beaches, A Kiwanis of Gulf Beaches project.
