SAFETY HARBOR – The Safety Harbor Public Library is sponsoring two Little Free Libraries for the Safety Harbor community and is seeking talented carpenters or artistic residents for the project.
Proposed library locations are the John Wilson Park Gazebo on Main Street and City Park on Seventh Street. All materials are the responsibility of the builder. The city will install the post and secure the Little Library, register and maintain it with books and any ongoing repairs. The carpenter or artist’s name or company name would be recognized.
Little Free Libraries are neighborhood works of art that house free books, using a take-a-book, leave-a-book concept. They are about 20 inches wide by 15 inches deep by 18 inches high and are on a sturdy post or foundation. It’s a gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories, and it’s a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book or two and bring back another book to share.
