LARGO - Pinellas County Utilities announced Jan. 4 that a new water leak had been found the day before in a section of the 48-inch water main located just south of Ulmerton Road in Largo.
The pipeline is part of the 48-inch water main replacement project underway from East Bay Drive to Bryan Dairy Road, according to a press release from Pinellas County Communications.
Twenty business customers in the area experienced low water pressure and were supplied with temporary potable water service overnight by Utilities work crews. The affected businesses are located in an area south of 124th Avenue off Belcher Road.
Since no customers are without water, work crews were expected to focus on completing the repair at Belcher and 142nd Avenue on Jan. 4. The focus will then shift to pinpointing and repairing the leak south of Ulmerton Road.
The businesses impacted were notified of the leak via informational door hangers last evening and advised that temporary potable water service would be provided.
