TAMPA - The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa plans to hire over 400 new team members as part of its $75 million expansion, which is slated to open in early summer 2012.
A job fair will be held at the Florida State Fairgrounds on April 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Job applicants must apply online beforehand. Applications are now available at www.jobsforflorida.com.
The new positions will include chefs, cooks, restaurant servers, bartenders, cocktail servers and other restaurant/lounge team members. New gaming jobs will include cashiers, Player’s Club representatives and technicians. Other openings will be in security, building/grounds maintenance and housekeeping departments. All full-time team members of the Seminole Gaming and Seminole Tribe of Florida receive a generous benefits package, including health care benefits, staff meals, tuition reimbursement and more.
The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is one of the largest employers in Tampa Bay and pays more than $74 million annually in salaries and wages to local team members. The property currently employs over 3,100 people, and once the expansion is complete, it will have over 3,500 team members. In addition, the property has employed 500 people for construction.
Not only will the project create over 400 new jobs, but it will also make the casino the eighth-largest casino in the world.
The expansion will include an additional 32,000 square feet of gaming space, pushing the existing 190,000 square feet of gaming above 220,000. Once the expansion is completed, the casino floor will be larger than five football fields and will have over 5,000 slot machines, 105 table games and 50 poker tables.
The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino expansion also includes the new Rise Kitchen and Bakery, which features flatbread sandwiches and fresh baked bread. Additionally, a new five-story parking garage with more than 1,300 spaces will bring the property’s total number of parking spaces to over 5,000. Visitors will also find a renovated pool area and bar with lush tropical landscaping and other features to enhance the leisure rock star experience.
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has put together an impressive, diversified team for its expansion. Klai Juba Architects, the premier hospitality and gaming resort specialist, is the project’s architectural firm, and Cleo Design is the casino expansion’s interior designer. Turner Construction is the project’s builder.
The last major expansion at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa was in 2007 when 55,000 square feet was added to the casino along with more than 1,000 new gaming machines. Also in 2007, Council Oak Steaks & Seafood opened its doors. In 2008, the property had a table game expansion and added close to 1,000 jobs.
