Starting , Monday night, April 8, through Wednesday night, April 10, from 8:30 to 6 a.m., the Florida Department of Transportation's contractor will close the intersection of Gulf-to-Bay at U.S. 19 to erect steel girders.
These girders will hold the bridge deck in place which will become the new bridge on U.S. 19 over State Road 60.
The work is part of the U.S. 19 interchanges project from north of Whitney Road to north of S.R. 60. This major construction project consists of removing the traffic signals on U.S. 19 between Whitney Road and S.R. 60 and constructing two new interchanges at Seville Boulevard and Belleair Road and rebuilding the S.R. 60 interchange.
The detour for the closure is as follows:
- Westbound traffic turning north at the northbound Frontage Road to Drew St, west to Belcher, south to Gulf-to-Bay, east/west at that point depending upon destination to either westbound on Gulf-to-Bay or eastbound back to southbound U.S. 19.
- Eastbound traffic, motorists will need to turn south on bypass, then east on Druid back to U.S. 19, then south to the U-turn added just south of Nursery and back north to S.R. 60.
