Forty couples gather at the Florida Botanical Garden in Largo on Valentine's Day 2009 for a wedding ceremony officiated by Pinellas County Clerk of the Court Ken Burke.
CLEARWATER - Ken Burke, Clerk of the Circuit Court, is planning a group wedding ceremony on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, Feb. 14, at the romantic Wedding Garden at the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo.
This is the seventh year the Clerk’s Office is hosting this event, which has become a county tradition.
Forty couples participated in the sixth annual Valentine’s Day Group wedding ceremony. As part of the ceremony, the couples were treated to a beautiful poem written by Myriam Irizarry, chief deputy director at the Clerk’s Office, musical serenades by the Charmonizers Barbershop Quartet and a solo performed by Linda Brian, deputy clerk.
The couples and their guest shared wedding cake and refreshments provided by local sponsors.
“The Florida Botanical Gardens provides the perfect setting for this very special day for the couples,” said Burke.
The Clerk is waiving the normal $30 fee to perform the marriage. Standard marriage license fees will still apply. To participate, couples must sign up at any Pinellas County Clerk’s office by Friday, Feb. 1.
The number of couples may be limited due to space. To be eligible to register to participate in the 2013 wedding event, application for a marriage license must be made between Dec. 17, 2012 and Feb. 11, 2013.
The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. in the Wedding Garden at Florida Botanical Gardens, 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo. Couples will receive a special, commemorative marriage certificate, which will be mailed within one week from the date of the ceremony with the official certificate of marriage.
All couples should arrive at the Botanical Gardens by 10:00 a.m. on the day of the event with their marriage license and identification.
