ST. PETERSBURG – The People That Love Church and Mission Inc., at 817 Fifth Ave. N., St. Petersburg, provides assistance with past due utility bills once people reach the “final notice” stage.
The church is asking for contributions to help keep folks warm this winter. The early winter cold spell may be the forebearer of a long, cold season. Cold weather shelters are stretched to the limit and winter gear is in great demand. The need to resupply is urgent. There is still another area of concern.
Many families and individuals, often retirees and disabled, do have their own places to live but are cold. They are cold because they cannot pay their utility bills. Often they resort to unconventional methods to heat their residences which can lead to fire hazards or dangerous carbon dioxide levels.
Sadly, some owe less than $40, yet do not have the funds to pay the bill.
The People That Love Church and Mission Inc. is seeking financial gifts to help pay past due utility bills. The church also encourages people to donate winter clothing, blankets and sleeping bags.
