Extension hosts workshops, Webinars

Pinellas County Extension will present a number of workshops and online classes in February. Following is a schedule of some upcoming presentations:
Focus on Finances
• Focus on Finances, Workshop 1, will be offered Monday, Feb. 8, 6 to 8 p.m., at Pinellas County Extension, 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo.
Attendees will gain the knowledge and skills to enhance their confidence in establishing and meeting their financial goals. Karen Saley, Extension Specialist, will take participants through this three-part series. The cost is $15 for all three sessions. Registration, with payment, is required 24 hours prior to class. • Focus on Finances, Workshop 2, will be offered Monday, Feb. 15, 6 to 8 p.m., at Pinellas County Extension.
This is the second in the three-part series on establishing and meeting financial goals.
• Focus on Finances, Workshop 3, will be offered Monday, Feb. 22, 6 to 8 p.m., at Pinellas County Extension.
This session will conclude the three-part series on establishing and meeting financial goals.
Solutions in 30
• Solutions in 30 – Teaching Your Kids to Be Money Smart will be offered online on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.
Karen Saley, Extension Money Management Specialist, will help participants learn some important steps to take to raise a child who has good money habits. • Solutions in 30 – Solar Power in the Sunshine State will be presented online on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.
James Stevenson, Extension Urban Sustainability Specialist, will present an introduction to solar energy. Stevenson will describe how to harvest it and how to take advantage of financial incentives available for welcoming the sun into the home. Sustainable Living
• Pinellas County Green Business Partnership will be presented online Wednesday, Feb. 17, 3 to 4 p.m.
This Webinar will be led by Mary Campbell, Extension Director/Urban Sustainability Agent. Campbell will take participants through the criteria and provide an easy overview of how to complete the assessment and become a Green Business Partner in Pinellas County.
The Green Business Partnership is a voluntary assessment of business operations based on criteria that reduce waste, save resources and promote sustainable practices.

• Green Star Advanced will be presented Thursday, Feb. 18, 8:30 a.m. to 12:25 p.m., at Pinellas County Extension.
Attendees will learn the necessary skills and practices to ensure a healthy and efficient office environment. Conserving resources and saving money at work is good for the county and good for the planet. Through energy conservation, waste reduction and safe use of office chemicals, everyone can help make a difference.

• Solar Power in the Sunshine State will be presented Saturday, Feb. 20, 10 a.m. to noon, at Pinellas County Extension.
Doug Gregory, University of Florida faculty member and leading Florida solar energy technology specialist, will explain how to make use of this free and renewable energy source. Extension specialists will provide information on incentives and programs that are aimed at getting citizens the most for their money.
