Events mark Consumer Protection Week

| Pinellas County is joining federal, state and other local government agencies sponsoring special events to mark National Consumer Protection Week 2013, March 3-9. |

CLEARWATER - Pinellas County’s Office of Consumer Protection is joining federal, state, and local government agencies nationwide to celebrate National Consumer Protection Week 2013, March 3 to 9.
For the past 15 years, a broad coalition has worked to share tips and information about privacy protection, money and debt management, and recognizing identity theft, frauds and scams.
In recognition of this week, the Office of Consumer Protection has planned several events for the week, including information booths to provide free resources to help people protect their privacy, manage money and debt, avoid identity theft, understand credit and mortgages and avoid fraud and scams. Events include:
Monday, March 4
Pinellas County Courthouse: 315 Court St., Clearwater, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Information booth to provide free consumer resources
• Dunedin Library: 223 Douglas Ave, Dunedin, 2 to 3 p.m., Steer Clear of Frauds and Scams presentation
Tuesday, March 5
• Pinellas County Courthouse: 315 Court St., Clearwater, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Information booth to provide free consumer resources
• Enoch Davis Center: 1111 18th Ave. S., St. Petersburg, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Information booth to provide free consumer resources
Wednesday, March 6
• Largo Library: 120 Central Park Dr., Largo, 9 a.m. to noon, Information booth to provide free consumer resources
Thursday, March 7
• Brooker Creek Preserve: 3940 Keystone Road, Tarpon Springs, 9 a.m. to noon, Information booth to provide free consumer resources
• Pinellas Library Cooperative Talking Library: 1330 Cleveland St., Clearwater, 11 to 11:30 a.m., Blow the Whistle on Fraud presentation
• The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay: 1255 Pasadena Ave. S., St. Petersburg, 2 to 4 p.m., Protect Yourself from Scams workshop. RSVP to 727-235-6976.
Friday, March 8
• Pinellas Park Library: 7770 52nd St. N., Pinellas Park, 9 a.m. to noon, Information booth to provide free consumer resources
Saturday, March 9
• Safety Harbor Friends of the Library: 101 Second St. N., Safety Harbor, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Information booth to provide free consumer resources
