$20 Million available for first-time homebuyers
Article published on Thursday, March 23, 2006
PINELLAS COUNTY - The Housing Finance Authority has $20 million available to help first-time homebuyers purchase a home.

In addition to the availability of below market interest rate mortgages, the HFA is also announcing a new initiative, the Home Key Plus 2nd program, to assist working families with down payment and closing costs.

The Home Key Plus 2nd program will assist moderate income homebuyers by allowing them to borrow funds for their down payment and closing costs at 0 percent interest and then pay the amount back over 30 years. This program will eliminate a significant obstacle for many potential homeowners who can't save up a significant amount to set aside for a down payment and closing costs.

The HFA works with local lenders to provide first-time homebuyers to make buying a home as smooth a process as possible. The lenders working with the HFA's First-Time Homebuyer program have the knowledge to make the home buying process experience an easy one for borrowers.

The HFA program serves first-time buyers in Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties. While there are qualifying income and sales price limits, both are generous.

Prospective first-time homebuyers may call the HFA at (800) 806-5154 for more information or visit www.pinellascounty.org/community/hfa.
