Article published on Tuesday, March 25, 2008
LARGO - Pinellas County Sheriff's communications maintenance technician Barchet D. Elmore, 31, of Seminole was charged with misdemeanor DUI and cited for careless driving following a single vehicle crash on the Walsingham-Indian Rocks Bridge just after 1 a.m. on March 21.

Deputies responded to the crash scene on the eastbound side of the bridge. Elmore was cooperative and said he was eastbound on the bridge when he lost control of his vehicle, a 2007 Nissan Sentra, and struck a concrete barrier.

The vehicle sustained significant damage. Elmore was checked by paramedics at the scene and released.

Deputies charged Elmore with misdemeanor DUI, cited him for careless driving, and transported him to the Pinellas County Jail.

Elmore is a non-sworn member of the Sheriff's Office assigned to Communications Maintenance. Per agency policy, investigators in the Administrative Investigations Unit were notified of the arrest.
