Palm Harbor teacher named 2008 Outstanding Educator

CLEARWATER – Malla Kolhoff, an 11th- and 12th-grade social studies teacher in the International Baccalaureate program at Palm Harbor University High, was recently named Pinellas County Schools 2008 Outstanding Educator by the Pinellas Education Foundation.
Other finalists for the title were David Mapp Jr., a seventh-grade geography/social studies teacher at Palm Harbor Middle; Francia Germosen, a kindergarten ESOL teacher at Eisenhower Elementary; Cynthia Young, a kindergarten teacher at Seminole Elementary; and Lou Pekrul, an eighth-grade mathematics teacher at Lealman.
Kolhoff began her career with Pinellas County Schools in 1985 as an American government and economics teacher at Tarpon Springs High before moving to Sunset Hills Elementary in 1990 as a K-5 teacher in the gifted program. Kolhoff transferred to Seminole High School in 1994 to teach inquiry skills, American government and economics, and went to Palm Harbor University High in 1996.
