Article published on Thursday, April 6, 2006
PINELLAS COUNTY – BMW’s 10th Annual Ultimate Drive Program for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is scheduled to drive through Florida in April and May.

Two fleets of specially-badged BMWs, decorated with pink ribbons and the phrase “Ten Years, Ten Million Miles, Ten Million Dollars,” start the million-mile cross-country trek that will raise a total of $10 million for the partnership. The money raised will support breast cancer research, education, screening and community outreach programs provided by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Ultimate Drive is a driving program created by BMW to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. The general public is invited to drive the fleet of BMWs at participating retail centers during the event. For each mile driven in one of the BMW Ultimate Driving vehicles, $1 is donated to the Komen Foundation.

On Thursday, April 27, the event will be at the Bert Smith BMW Center at 3800 34th St. N., St. Petersburg, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Contact Mark Cobb with BMW at 527-1111 or Lynn Rasys with the Komen Foundation at (941) 355-8514.

On Monday, May 1, the event will be at the Ferman BMW Center at 31480 U.S. 19 N., Palm Harbor, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Contact Elaine Diaz with BMW at 785-3900 or Debi McCreary with the Komen Foundation at 462-7153.
