The Tibbetts Awards are presented to those small businesses and individuals judged to exemplify the best in the SBIR program. The award is named for Roland Tibbetts, acknowledged as the father of the Small Business Innovation Research program, and is presented to companies and individuals that promote the mission and goals of the SBIR program and the Small Business Technology Transfer program.
“SBIR is a highly competitive program that encourages south Florida small businesses to explore and expand their technological potential and provides the incentive to profit from its commercialization,” said Francisco “Pancho” Marrero in a press release. Marrero is the SBA South Florida District director. “In FY 2013, 58 SBIR grants were made to 26 businesses in the south Florida district totaling more than $18.3 million. I encourage these businesses to nominate themselves to be considered.”
