School district employee recognized by state association
Article published on Wednesday, April 16, 2008
PINELLAS COUNTY – Answering the phone is nothing unusual for Sharon Ingram. The 33-year Pinellas County Schools’ employee does that a lot in her job as secretary to the associate superintendent for facilities and operations.

But Tuesday, one call proved to be really special – it was a member of the selection committee calling to say she had been chosen the Florida Association of Educational Office Professionals 2008 Office Professional of the Year, said school officials in a news release.

“I was really very surprised and pleased,” said Ingram, who lives in St. Petersburg. “It is quite an honor.”

She will receive the award during the FAEOP annual conference June 11 to 14 at Cypress Gardens. She represents all educational office professionals in Florida and, as state winner, is in line for national recognition as well.

Ingram is completing a second two-year term as president of the Pinellas Association of Educational Office Professionals and is a member of the state executive board. She is a candidate for president-elect of FAEOP, is chairman of the state Ways and Means Committee and has served on numerous other state committees. She has been a member of the local association for 30 years and the state for 15 years.

In her 33 years with Pinellas County Schools, Ingram has been a secretary to area superintendents and the associate superintendent for facilities and operations. She has worked at the Walter Pownall Service Center in her present position for 18 years.
