Libertarian Lucas Overby announces that he is back in the running for the District 13 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
“After much deliberation and a number of careful consultations with my family, campaign team, and community, I have decided to renew my candidacy for the 13th Congressional District House seat,” Overby said in a press release May 2. “Pinellas County deserves real choices on the ballot in November; by running for this office I can serve my community by helping to ensure a real dialogue and discussion about the issues facing us.”
In a statement released April 22, Overby had said he would not be running.
“My family, my beautiful wife Ashley and my amazing little daughter Raegan are the absolute center of my universe, and the timing is simply just not there to do it again so soon,” he said.
In the statement released May 2, he said, “I would like to thank the many voters who reached out to me asking that I re-enter the race, and I am especially grateful to the Rev. Manuel Sykes for his support and encouragement.”
Overby is expected to give more details about his campaign at a press conference May 2, 5:30 p.m., at 1910 Drew St., Clearwater.
“As always, it is an honor to work with the good people of this district in building a future for ourselves and our nation,” he said.
