ST. PETERSBURG – Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority has scheduled a public hearing on Wednesday, May 21, 10:30 a.m., at PSTA Headquarters, 3201 Scherer Drive, St. Petersburg, to gather public comment on the proposed Capital Improvement Program for fiscal year 2015.
The proposed CIP to be submitted by PSTA to the Federal Transit Administration and Florida Department of Transportation includes the following.
On March 10, the Federal Register notice announced 100 percent allocation of FY 2014 Formula funds under the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act. PSTA will be requesting federal funding from The Federal Transit Administration for Section 5307 and 5339 formula funds, which will be used to cover projects listed in the FY 2015 CIP.
• Section 5307 – Urbanized Area Formula Grant
PSTA will submit a grant application to FTA for FY 2014 Section 5307 funding in the amount of $12,567,145. The proposed CIP will include: preventive maintenance (tire lease, bus parts, and shop labor), support vehicles, replacement revenue vehicles, computer hardware, computer software, passenger amenities (shelters, ADA landing pads, benches, bike racks and trash can/compactors), third party contracts, miscellaneous support equipment, rehab/renovation of facilities, new bus wash roof, lease of equipment, short/long range planning, short range planning to increase ridership, transit studies, employee education/training, project administration and contingency.
• Section 5339 – Bus and Bus Facilities
PSTA will submit a grant application to FTA for FY 2014 Section 5339 funding in the amount of $1,439,358. The proposed CIP will be used for the purchase of replacement revenue vehicles.
• Section 5310 – Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities
All interested parties within Pinellas County are hereby advised that the PSTA is applying to the FDOT for FY 2014 Section 5310 capital grant funding under MAP21, in the amount of $523,314 for the purchase of revenue vehicles and the provision of Mobility Management Administration that will benefit the enhanced mobility of seniors and individuals with disabilities in the PSTA service area.
