CLEARWATER – Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office announced that an inmate died at a local hospital about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 24, from injuries suffered when he tried to hang himself.
According to the sheriff’s report, detention deputies were getting inmates out to recreation about 8:15 a.m. May 23, when they discovered England Wilson, 32, hanging from his cell gate with a sheet tied around his neck. Deputies promptly cut the inmate from the sheet and began CPR. Medical staff responded and took over medical assistance.
Wilson’s cell was located in the South Division area of the Pinellas County Jail, 14400 49th Street North, Clearwater. He was being held on a warrant from the U.S. Marshals Service.
