ST. PETERSBURG – A 70-year-old woman is in stable condition at a local hospital after being stabbed multiple times by her grandson just after midnight Monday, June 2.
Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a private residence on 50th Avenue North in St. Petersburg after a male calling from the home reported he had stabbed his grandmother. Upon their arrival, they found the victim, Eula Powless in the home with multiple stab wounds to her upper torso and neck area. She was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Deputies identified a suspect, Joseph Richard Levan, 23. Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit met with Levan who reportedly admitted the allegations and said he had been planning the attack for the past several days.
Levan was charged with one count of attempted murder in the first degree.
