Nick Bollea's new cell has space for four inmates. This photo shows a protective custody, single person cell identical to the one Bollea had been housed in for almost one month of his eight-month sentence.
PINELLAS COUNTY – Nick Bollea was transferred from the protective custody cell, where he had been held since May 12 to a direct supervision pod.

According to a press release from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies assigned to the Detention and Corrections Bureau transferred Bollea about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Bollea was moved to a pod composed of four 6-person cells, which are supervised by a detention deputy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pod is equipped with a television.

Bollea is currently serving an eight month sentence after pleading no contest to charges of felony reckless driving with serious bodily injury.

At of Thursday afternoon, Bollea was sharing the cell with three other county sentenced juvenile inmates. Two of those inmates were transferred to this direct supervision cell on Thursday; the third inmate was already in place in that housing unit, the press release said.

“The decision to transfer the inmates comes as a result of routine and ongoing assessments of inmate population and classification; and the opportunity to house those juveniles who have been sentenced as adults to county time,” according to the press release.

In the new housing, Bollea will continue his previously established schedule, to include work from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Inmate Property. Video visitations will also continue as previously established from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays. He will also continue to have recreation time and access to a telephone.

Officials released photos of the protective custody cell and his schedule on Tuesday afternoon. His former cell was a single person cell, furnished with a stainless steel shower, which can be used any time, a toilet, mirror, writing desk with stool, shelf, bunk with mattress and two windows.
