Man arrested on child abuse charge

PINELLAS COUNTY – A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged with one count of aggravated child abuse.
Kevin D. White went to the workplace of the 2-year-old boy’s mother, picked up the child and took him back to the home he shares with the boy and his mother in the St. Petersburg/Haines Road area.
He was taking a shower when he noticed the boy tried to enter the bathroom, he told Pinellas Sheriff’s deputies, so he reached out of the shower to close the door. The child fell backwards and hit his head, White told the police. The boy then began to vomit.
White called 9-1-1. After paramedics arrived at the house, they noticed the child had unexplained bruises on his entire body and significant injury to his brain, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He was interviewed at the Sheriff’s Office and then taken to the Pinellas County Jail. The child’s prognosis is reportedly poor.
