ST. PETERSBURG – Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a South Pasadena man in connection with a bank robbery at Bank of America, 8181 54th Ave. N. in unincorporated St. Petersburg.
According to detectives, Mark Merrill, 52, of South Pasadena, walked into the bank about 12:10 p.m. Thursday, July 10, armed with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money from two tellers. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, he exited the bank. Witnesses said he drove away in a silver-colored Chevy Silverado.
Deputies located the vehicle and attempted to stop it. They pulled it over in the vicinity of 62nd Avenue east of 53rd Street and made the arrest. Merrill was transported to the Pinellas County Jail and booked on one count of armed robbery. Bond was set at $150,000.
