ST. PETERSBURG – Pinellas County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a Largo man Saturday, July 12, on eight counts of sale of a controlled substance and eight counts of possession.
According to detectives assigned to the Narcotics Division, James Allen Comer, 38, was arrested about noon in the parking lot at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg. He is a firefighter and SWAT medic for Pinellas Park Fire Department. He also works part time as an emergency room nurse at Northside Hospital.
Detectives received information July 11 that Comer was selling prescription drugs. A controlled purchase from the suspect was made July 11, giving detectives probable cause to arrest him.
Detectives said Comer sold and was in possession of eight different types of prescription pills, to include morphine, xanax, hydromorphone and oxycontin.
He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident. Bond was set at $200,000.
Detectives are not yet disclosing how Comer obtained the medication as the investigation is ongoing.
