SEMINOLE – The Deaf and Hearing Connection for Tampa Bay Inc. has expanded the locations of its no charge amplified telephone and equipment distribution program to include the following locations:
• Palm Harbor Library, 2330 Nebraska Ave.
• Safety Harbor Library, 101 Second St. N.
• Clearwater Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave.
• Largo Library, 120 Central Park Drive
• Gulf Beaches Library, 200 Municipal Drive, Madeira Beach
Local residents of Florida who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf/blind or speech-impaired can receive this equipment at no cost for as long as they continue to live in the state at least six months a year.
Telecommunications access for the hearing-and-speech impaired is funded by a surcharge on every telephone consumer’s phone bill. Equipment is available by appointment Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., through the Deaf and Hearing Connection main office in Seminole or at satellite locations.
Free hearing screenings, other assistive equipment and hearing aids are also available on site at the Deaf and Hearing Connection, a nonprofit organization specializing in communication access for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or late deafened. To schedule an appointment, call 399-9983 for local service.
