ST. PETERSBURG – The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the fight against blood cancers, will have its 2005 Light The Night Walk on Friday, Oct. 21, 7:30 p.m., at Carillon Office Park. Registration and entertainment will begin at 6. Pre-walk festivities will include food and fun for the family.
Light The Night is a nationwide fundraising event designed to raise the awareness of and to help battle blood cancers including leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma.
The Pinellas walk is one of four Light The Night events in the area to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. During these 2- to 3-mile evening walks, participants carry illuminated balloons – white for survivors and red for those who support them – to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by blood cancer. This year’s Hero of Hope is 14-year-old Jaclyn Azarte, a leukemia survivor.
Families, friends, organizations and corporations have joined together to form walk teams, volunteer, and raise money. Funds raised though individual and corporate contributions support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission to cure blood cancers, as well as to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
