TAMPA - Pinellas County Economic Development was recently recognized by the Florida Redevelopment Association for its commitment to community improvement.
Pinellas County Economic Development was honored at a special awards luncheon during the 2008 FRA Annual Conference on Oct. 22 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Tampa.
"I applaud Pinellas County Economic Development and all the leaders and representatives who dedicated time and energy to invigorate their communities with knowledge and creativity," said Kim Briesemeister, president of FRA. "Redevelopment is a vital part of Florida. It generates pride in our communities."
Pinellas County Economic Development won in the category of Best Marketing & Communications for the Communities of Pinellas.
The Communities of Pinellas brochure helps foster business development while managing population growth and preserving the quality of life. It educates and promotes awareness of redevelopment opportunities throughout the county, while reinforcing each community's vision for its redevelopment areas. The materials provide relevant data, local redevelopment contacts, incentives and real estate trends and markets.
The city of Clearwater won the Best Capital Project-Beautification award for its Cleveland Street Streetscape.
The city of Oldsmar won the Best New Building Project award for the Oldsmar Public Library.
Founded in 1974, FRA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to assisting Florida professionals and volunteers revitalize their communities. FRA's mission is to provide a forum for its more than 300 members to share knowledge and common experiences regarding redevelopment opportunities and issues, encourage adoption of legal and financial tools and programs favorable to community redevelopment and serve as a statewide clearinghouse for redevelopment information.
