SEMINOLE Results of Seminole Vocational Education Center exhibitors in the livestock shows at the recent Florida State Fair:
Hog show: (216 hogs)
Exhibitors Lexie Wentz, Chelsea Wentz, Morgan Wright, Kristen Baxley, Hannah Parker, Haley Moore and Bill Wichlenski.
Showmanship Blue ribbons, Lexie Wentz, Chelsea Wentz and Wright; red ribbons, Parker and Baxley; white ribbon, Haley Moore.
Weight classes
Hogs weighing 240-241 pounds Moore, third place; Chelsea Wentz, sixth place.
Hogs 246-247 pounds Parker, 10th place.
Hogs 255-257 pounds Wright, sixth place.
Hogs 266-267 pounds Baxley, fourth place.
Hogs 272-275 pounds Lexie Wentz, seventh place.
Wichlenskis hog was three pounds short of the 230-pound minimum and was disqualified from showing. Billy was still able to participate in the Skilathon.
Steer show: (71 steers)
Exhibitors: Alexandra Matthews, Adam Naquin, Haley Abrams, Wednesday Rufin, Breanne Zsiga and Aricely Alvarez.
Showmanship Blue ribbons, Matthews, Naquin, Rufin and Zsiga; white ribbons, Abrams and Alvarez.
Weight classes
Steers 1,062 to 1084 pounds Matthews, seventh place.
Steers 1,120 to 1,142 pounds Alvarez, first place.
Steers 1,170 to 1,196 pounds Zsiga, first place; Abrams, eighth place.
Steers 1,231 to 1,285 pounds Rufin, fifth place; Naquin, seventh place.
Other Awards
Gain in weight Zsiga, 10th place, 3.1 pounds per day.
Carcass Contest (ultrasound) Seminole Vo Ed FFA, reserve grand champion.
Quality Grade Choice Naquin, third place.
Premier Steer Contest Alvarez, reserve grand champion.
